Sofía Fernández Díaz Print Release
& Chicago Exhibition Weekend (CXW) Kick-off Cocktail
in collaboration with Early/Work

Tuesday, September 16

6 - 8pm

Chicago Athletic Association | 12 S. Michigan Ave.

Join Re/Match and Process/Process to kick off Chicago Exhibition Weekend with a celebratory toast to launch the sale of a new print by Sofía Fernández Díaz

A portion of all sales will benefit nonprofit Re/Match’s 2026 grants to Chicago artists.

Fernández Díaz’s aquatint print work emerged from a myriad of precise and layered drawings the artist created during her recent time in Oaxaca, Mexico. Rooted in research and intuitive observation, the print will serve as both botanical study and spiritual mapping, evoking cycles of growth, resilience, and transformation.

Full details about the print will be shared online on the occasion of the September 16 launch event. For an advance preview, please email hello@process-process.com.

About Sofía Fernández Díaz:

Sofía Fernández Díaz’s process is fueled by an intimate knowledge of ancient and modern processes, combining experimentation, intuition, and play to discover new and unexpected commonalities between unrelated materials. Her familiarity with naturally occurring patterns and formations allows her to recreate these systems using beeswax, fibers, and natural dyes. From Mexico City, she has engaged in exchanges with artisans across Mexico throughout the past decade. Fernández Diaz has exhibited and performed at Goldfinch, Chicago Art Department, EXPO Chicago, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (Oaxaca, MX), and ACE (Buenos Aires, AR), among others. Fernández Diaz received an MFA in Fiber & Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was recently named a New City Magazine Breakthrough Artist, 2025.
