Biography

Based in the Midwest, bARBER has shown extensively at venues including the MDW art fair, The Other Art Fair, EXPO CHICAGO, and the Chicago Artist Coalition, where he was an artist-in-residence from 2023 to 2024. He has forthcoming solo exhibitions at Ignition, Chicago, and the Salina Art Center, Salina, Kansas. He has participated in residencies at Allerton Park and Retreat in Monticello, Illinois, and Fortuna in Mexico City in 2022. He was the recipient of a  MAP grant with Propelled Animals, his co-founded site adaptive art collective. bARBER graduated Cum Laude from the University of Iowa, receiving the 2020 Biennial Artist Research Fellowship at Sam Fox Island Press. That year, his work was featured in New American Paintings. His work is in numerous private collections, including that of Dan Gilbert’s Family of Companies in Detroit.
